I’m thinking about switching from Microsoft Office to OpenOffice. Have you tried it? What was your reaction and opinion? How well does it work when you are exchanging .doc files with other writers and making changes?

I’ve had good experiences with OpenOffice, although few of the documents I work on are particularly complicated. V2 is vastly better than V1 was, in look, features and usability.
A few things I use were hard to find at first (can’t remember what off the top of my head), but found with some hunting.
My sweetie loves NeoOffice (the Mac port/fork) on our MacBook, and he was always so-so with OpenOffice on our Windows machines.
I don’t think I’d ever bother paying for MS Office again.
