  1. Whoo hoo. GIMP is really great if you are wanting to be able to use the same tool across multiple platforms. It does not matter if it is Unix, Windows, or Mac… Using GIMP is the same on each. Of course you can do most anything with Photoshop that you would do with Gimp, but the community behind GIMP is really something else… And the scripting for GIMP has been ahead of everything for a long time. If you go look at alot of the font creation websites (that do it on the fly) you will notice that many of them are actually using Script-Fu, the Gimp scripting engine.
