Hello, new world. Hell froze over.

If you read the blog rather than an RSS feed, you’ll notice that I FINALLY changed the theme. I’ve used Very Plain Text for 11 years. It served me very well and I send many thanks to Scott for the serviceable and timeless theme.

You probably recognize the new theme as the standard twentyeleven. I haven’t customized it much yet. I went with the idea of a child theme for customization. I spent some time getting things I wanted into the sidebar. (Gotta get that BlogHer Publishing Network stuff in there first thing. You know how that works.)

I hope you find it readable. I’m not sure that I like having an image at the top of the page – I may get rid of that, but in the meantime may I suggest the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta as one of the most fun things you’d ever do in your life.

Thanks for looking. Feedback is welcome.

  1. i am nodding, giggling, hugging you for the step and grinning ear to ear over all you wrote. i agree bout an image up top. i so get the desire to change but not doing so….i really like the feel of this layout….easy on the eye..the typography sooo soft and welcoming….i’m picky like that. if a typography is too formal i already feel talked at. if it’s too teeny same…. this is welcoming. warm, encouraging and all of that when you are an expert teacher at all things tech is sooo helpful b/c tech itself can ‘feel’ intimidating…. little by little every effort to hush that matters. i will definitely be subscribing 🙂

  2. I like the image at the top because I like your photography. I might recommend you find a way to point out that the images in the masthead ARE your photographs and not stock images… because you should toot your photographer horn. Just tossing that out there. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Denise. I’m not happy about the amount of screen real estate it uses. I’m thinking I may make it a background image for the header, but would have to lower the saturation so much, I’m not sure how good it would look. And a balloon’s gotta look good…
