Another job resource

I posted Looking for a web design job? the other day to let the readers know that I’ve added a job widget to the site. Another job resource you might be interested in is on Twitter–oh so modern, isn’t it?. The Twitter name is hotstartupjobs and would be good to follow if 1) you’re looking for a job, or 2) you’re training students who will soon be in the job market.

Actually, if you’re training students who will soon be in the job market, keeping an eye on the job widget on this site could be informative, too.

Something for instructors to think about. Are any employers looking for workers who only know how to create a page using a table layout? Are any employers looking for workers who don’t know much about CSS? Are any employers looking for workers who can’t build an accessible site?

  1. These are the wrong questions, Virginia. Try some along the lines of “Are there any employers looking for workers who can ‘make a web-page’ and don’t even know to ask about CSS, validity, standards, accessibility, or tableless semantic HTML layouts?”

    The answer, sadly, is ‘definitely’.

  2. The world is full of clueless people, all right, but many major employers have learned from things like the case against Target and their own self-interest on bandwidth charges to want standards and savvy employees.
