Tables haven't been deprecated, but they are meant to hold rows and columns of data. You would probably get better results from the search engines if you laid out your pages using semantic HTML positioned with CSS. I have some old sites in my portfolio that still use tables-based layouts, and the visual effect is good, but the underlying code is not helpful or accessible to everyone.

Tables offer me more control over data in the body of my web pages than CSS sometimes. I know CSS is the way forward but I still use tables and hope they don't become deprecated unless they already are?
