I'm in a cell only house, where we employ Skype or MSN with video for long distance calls. I can't see that there is something that landlines fulfill that cell phones or skype/msn/voip do not.

We're just not willing to pay the premiums to having our cells be our main phone number.

Basically our cells are for occasional/emergency use (we have a very inexpensive plan from Virgin Mobile), and our main 'landline' is a VOIP account from Vonage.
